Our Year 9s took part in an Enterprise Day to complete the Young Enterprise Quickstart programme they have been working on in LLW. Pupils formed their own mini businesses with the help of a small loan from the school. They used this start-up capital to get their business ideas up and running with all profits being donated to Trocaire. Some groups made up hampers and sold tickets, while others sourced physical products from the internet before marking them up. Through participating in this programme the pupils have developed their entrepreneurial acumen as well as improving their problem solving, teamworking and planning skills. Well done to all who took part!
Earlier in the day, the whole of Year 9 heard from Malcolm Beattie: founder and Managing Director of MB Motors in Ballymena. Malcolm spoke to the pupils about his experiences in business and answered some of our pupils’ questions. He finished by offering some words of encouragement to any young entrepreneurs in the room: “If you have a good idea and you really believe in it – just go for it!” We would like to thank Malcolm again for giving up his time to speak with our pupils.
